Secondary Technical School of Industry and Secondary Vocational school of Machinery

Our school was established in 1942.
It is a region-owned school with legal personality. It provides complete secondary technical education and secondary craft education in branches like electrical engineering, civil (building) engineering and machinery engineering. The educational courses are being terminated (jsou ukončeny) by school-leaving exams. The apprentice (učňovské) courses are being terminated by final examination and the students recieve craft certificates.

The school is located in several buildings in Prostějov, the theoretical education takes place in Lidická street, the craft training takes place in workshops in Vrahovice and in Wolkerova street. The headquarter of the school is in Lidická street, in a building constructed in the years 1936 - 37 by the project of the architect Eduard Žáček. It is a notable building in functionalism style with an interesting solution of interiors. The school makes a modern impression even nowadays

Branches

1. Electrical engineering (Computer systems in electrical engineering)
This course involves technical means, computer technique and computer nets. From technical subjects the emphasis is being laid on digital techniques, microprocessor techniques, programming and technological equipment of computers. The practical training takes place in a new school-laboratories, the equipment of which enables teaching the pronciples of electrical engineering, digital techniques, analogue and measuring circuits, microprocessor technique, automation and regular technique, sensor technique, transmission technique, exploitation of computer technique for data collecting and process controlling. Of course, students have to study all subjects, like Czech literature and language, English, maths, history, economy, ecology etc (and so on).

2. Civil engineering
This course prepares students for position of designers, site managers, officers at civil engineering authorities, cadastral and other administratives. They can also be employed in position of dispatching, prefabrication managing, production of construction material, laboratories, supplying and construction material retail. Student have been using modern equipped laboratories, somputer rooms as well as specialized schoolrooms for teaching foreign languages, drawing and other.
The graduates are able to make their own project, use computers, especially on the field of CAD. They manage calculations and statics solutions af land constructions, can work with databases and orient themselves to design constructins too. The students get practical training in land-survey, in the course or practical lessons they learn about building technologies which creates the qualification for managign the job of a building designer.
Special subjects: architecture, technical drawing, building mechanics, economics.

The present educational plans emphasize not only technical subjects, but also art subjects and foreign languages.

3. Machinery (Computer systems and programming in machinery)
This course has selective subjects PROGRAMMING, CAD/CAM, COMPUTER SYSTEMS and other. Studenst are using modern equipped computer and microprocessor technique schoolrooms during the whole education period.
Economics studies have been enlarged to marketing, business and tax problems. Mathematics and physics have been taught in larger extent.
Special subjects: information technologies, computer systems, machine constructions and technologies and programming of CAD/CAM systems.

4. Craftsman for machines and equipment
The graduates are being prepared for positions in medium technical machinery staff-controlling assembly process, maintenance. They can take advantage of owning both crafts and welding certificates

5. Machine - adjuster
The graduates are being prepared for positions in medium technical machinery staff-controlling assembly process, operating programme-controlled machines.

Our school offers also craft courses: Machine-tool operator, toolmaker, fine mechanician, locksmith
